Jarred Wall is a versatile cross-genre artist and musician. Collaborations include lead roles within West Australian Opera, singing and songwriting for solo music project 'Boox Kid' (300k+ Spotify streams), and production of curated sounds for artists, theatre and advertising.
Jarred is a proud advocate and First Nations person of Noongar heritage with ties to the Southwest Western Australia (Wadarndi / Bibbulmun Country).
• Jarred took to the stage performing as Wardong in the W.A. Opera's ‘Koolbardi Wer Wardong’. Written by Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse and sung entirely in Noongar language, the Opera provided a unique performance opportunity, cultural enrichment and chance to develop Noongar language skills. The opera was performed at His Majesty’s Theatre and received critical acclaim. It has since done several regional tours.
• Jarred/Boox Kid participated in APRA's RESONATE songwriting and production program at Studios301, collaborating as a songwriter with First Nation artists such as Candice Lorrae (The Merindas), Jem Cassar-Daley and Cloe Terare.
• City of Perth invited Jarred/Boox Kid to create sound on an advertising campaign with Noah Shilkin of LollyBox.
• Cut Above Collective sign up as Boox Kid's management (a subsidiary of Mellen Events / Live Nation Australia). Since joining the roster, Boox Kid's profile has increased and led to various high-profile performance opportunities, including opening for George Ezra at Kings Park.
• Tourism WA (collaborating with Andrew Wright) invite Jarred on a project to develop a song for their ad campaign with Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo. The campaign was very successful, with the song ‘Stars Gather’ later being released as a Boox Kid track.
• APRA invite Jarred to participate on a regional songwriting panel, joining Siobhan Cotchin, Riley Pearce, Mr Rhodes and Kevin Mitchell.
• Boox Kid performs as the house band for the National NAIDOC awards 2023 in Meanjin.
• Boox Kid perform at BIGsound 2023.
• Jarred stars as the lead role (Wundig) in West Australian Opera's production ‘Wundig Wer Wilura’. Performed at Perth Festival, the show was written entirely in Noongar language by Guy Ghouse and Gina Williams and featured a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cast (including Jess Hitchock). The opera was performed to sold out crowds at His Majesty’s Theatre, with plans for a future tour.
• Jarred debuted as sound designer with Aboriginal theatre production Yirra Yaakin on their show ‘Operation Boomerang', written By Bruce Denny (launched to a full house).
• Toured nationally, supporting Alter Boy band.
• EP ‘Reflections’ by Boox Kid is written, produced and released, gaining 200k+ streams, with ‘I Don’t Mind’ landing placement on Spotify's ‘Chilled Hits’ and several other editorial playlists.
• ‘Don’t waste time’ wins WAM Indigenous Song of the Year.
• APRA’s Resonate Program invited Boox Kid to return as a Producer and Songwriter for their 2024 program, collaborating with artists such as Zipporah and Marlon.
• Boox Kid opens Perth Festival supporting Electric Fields.
• Jarred is invited by Black Swan Theatre to undertake the role of Sound Designer in their production of 'Blue' by Thomas Weatherall. The show is met with rave reviews.
As a proud Noongar man, Jarred has a strong desire to advocate and support his community, and particularly up and coming First Nations artists. As a community mentor and leader he is often invited to perform songs, speeches, story telling and truth telling at schools, conferences and annual events such as NAIDOC and Harmony Week. His recent collaborations include RAC arena roundtables addressing Diversity in the industry and Centre for Stories.
He has engaged in Spotify 'Yarn' sessions, aimed at improving Indigenous representation on the platform. Alongside this, Jarred has engaged in 'Support Act' workshops to help develop their First Nation Strategic Plan.
Jarred is Chair of RTRfm's RAP Committee and heavily involved with Aboriginal Engagement at not-for-profit Anglicare WA.
He has also engaged as a peer assessor and grant panelist for Department of Culture and the Arts and Australia Council, to ensure an Aboriginal lens is applied to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander grant applications.
